Cute Clean Cottage, GREAT Garden!

I can’t say enough good things about our experience at “Pinky”. There are two cottages on the property – this one is c. 2000 and renovated with the latest (great stainless kitchen and HDTVs). The location is excellent – very near everything, yet hidden away. We particularly enjoyed the light show in the evening – the whole garden was lit with lamps that change color. Thank you Darla, thank you Herb for a great few days – too short!

Sarasota Hide-Away!

We recently spent six nights at this amazing 1925 cottage in the Indian Beach/Sapphire Shores section of Sarasota. It is located in an old neighborhood with lots of live oaks, many different types of architecture, walk-able streets, and friendly people. A 10 minute walk brings you to some of the most amazing sunsets! It is less than a 10 minute drive from downtown, 15 minutes to St. Armand’s Key and Lido Beach. Herb and Darla have created a beautiful old cottage with all the modern updates. The entire house has everything you could possible need to spend a few days or more. The outdoors is landscaped with all native plants, and features a private patio with grill. Once you spend time here, you will definitely be back!

This was a thoroughly enjoyable place for my wife, son and me to spend time together!

The house is beautiful, clean, perfectly furnished and entirely comfortable. It is perfectly situated just enough off the main drag to be quaint and quiet , yet accessible to anything one could want to get to in the Sarasota area. Owner Herb met us on our arrival to assure everything was in order and was accessible with a smile. Nice place and location. Highly recommended!

More than we expected!

We stayed for six days in the smaller of the two cottages (“Pinky”). The cottage was very clean, well-organized and had everything we needed for the week; the new washer and dryer was a huge plus!!! There’s no doubt the owners, Herb and Darla, took the time to make sure they provided every possible convenience. Even though Pinky is a one bedroom, one bath cottage, we were pleasantly surprised at how much room there was. The kitchen had plenty of space, as well as all brand new appliances. The living room was bright, very comfortable and had at least a 50 inch television. The large bedroom, with another large TV, and bath were also much nicer than any other places we’ve stayed. We took several walks around the neighborhood and even took in a few gorgeous sunsets over Sarasota Bay. We loved the location and how close it is to so many places. We spent time at St. Armand’s where we did some shopping, the Ringling Museum, the Lido beach Tiki Bar, Siesta Key beach, the best beach in the US, and had two absolutely fantastic breakfasts at Yoder’s Amish Restaurant. I highly recommend eating there at least once, but go hungry because you get a lot of food. This was one of our best vacations and we will definitely be back. Thanks again Herb and Darla for allowing us to stay in such a beautiful place and your above average hospitality!

Adorable house near downtown and bay

We stayed in the smaller of the two cottages and had a great experience. The house is adorable with lots of thoughtful, stylish touches and for a couple it is the perfect amount of space – plenty of room to spread out, a really cute little garden in the back, big, spacious bathroom. We love the location – within walking distance of downtown and the bay, with Ringling Museum, Selby Gardens, St. Armand’s and your pick of beaches all a quick drive away. Herb and Darla are kind and attentive hosts who took great care to make sure everything is perfect. We would definitely come back.

Just like it looks! Great house and garden.

Husband and I, along with my sister and her husband, relaxed at the two cottages for 4 days last week (“Pinky” and “Scruffy”). Pinky is the new one that my wife and I took, Scruffy is the renovated Old Florida cottage that my sister and brother-in-law wanted.

All of us were extremely pleased with the clean space and the obvious attention to detail shown by the owner(s). Enjoyed the large yard with native flora, along with the Weber Grill we used for a “T Bone” & grilled vegetable evening.

The Indian Beach neighborhood is really interesting – seems to be some expensive real estate here. It’s a good walking area…very close to a “bend-in-the-road” view of Sarasota Bay that was beautiful at sunset. As we walked 20-minutes North we passed Jungle Gardens and went to the Ca D’Zan, the Winter home of John Ringling, and the art museum and the circus museum.

Thank you for letting us be your first guests. We shall return!

The property was very clean, inviting & nicely decorated

The property had everything we needed. Darla and Herb went the extra mile to make sure our stay was nice. We really enjoyed the colorful lights that were distributed around the outside of the house.

Wonderful relaxing weekend in a pristine cottage with an Old Florida feel to it!

We stayed last week here at “Scruffy” – the old 1925 cottage and, my sister & brother-in-law were next door at “Pinky”

It was great! Private but close to each other.

Scruffy has restored yellow pine floors from the 1920s – which gives it agreat “vintage” feel. There’s a fireplace in the living/dining area that we didn’t use (warm enough this time of year!), but it’s all a part of the homey feeling we got when we first walked in.

Mr. Ed is, well, just funny! It’s interesting to have a Dutch door as your front door. The place has a lot of history – the owner told us some of it…the Indian mounds, the twin bed in the 2nd bedroom belonged to Joe DiMaggio’s uncle(!) etc. All very interesting.

Only heads up for a future renter is that there is no dishwasher – no space in the kitchen for one. The sink, though, is definitely large enough to handle dishes, pots, pans etc. We actually used only a few dishes so it was no big deal to wash our own. Internet was fast and the signal was strong – no problems there. Front load stacked Washer/Dryer worked well. Bed was quite comfortable.

The Indian Beach area is perfect in that it is hidden away but close (as in walking close) to all of the places we wanted to be – the Van Wezel Center, Ringling Museum, downtown area etc.

We all went for an evening walk on Thursday and got to appreciate the neighborhood. Lots of other walkers/runners here. All in all, when we return to Sarasota this will be on the top of our list of places to stay. Best Regards! Jen.
